This is a Theme setting that you will need to edit to stop the redirection occuring.
In your theme there should be a setting to use a cart drawer instead of redirecting to the cart page. Its usually under the cart dropdown in the theme editor.
Go to Online Store > Themes > Customise.
Look under Theme Settings → Cart or check the Header block settings.
Choose the Cart type → Drawer.
