We’ve completely rebuilt Add to Unlock from the ground up and moved away from relying on Shopify’s basic discount engine that had many limitations and conflicts.
Add to Unlock V2 runs on Unicorn’s own high-performance discount & reward engine: with less admin and more customisations - all you have to do is define your offer and Unicorn handles the rest.

The new GWP reward replaces both “Free Gift” and “Buy X Get Y” for setting up gift offers.
No more automatic Buy X Get Y discounts or $0 products needed.
This means your GWP works with any combination of offers - no Shopify limitations/order discount and product discount conflicts
Prevents any accidental freebies or incorrect gift eligibility - because $0 products are no longer necessary
Stop customers from applying discount codes at checkout which put them under your GWP threshold (Watch: how to prevent GWP + discount combinations)
You can easily choose whether GWPs can stack or if it’s one per order
You also now have the ability to auto-remove lower-tier gifts when a higher tier is unlocked (Watch: how to prevent gift stacking with GWPs)
Set GWPs as single variants - rather than product with every variant. You can also set a single variant as the reward trigger.
Set different GWP thresholds per country instead of Market - allowing greater control
You can also scope your offers just to the cart - so you can target by URL, customer type or market without needing that offer to be global (e.g. which was previously a limitation of shopify for buy x get y discounts- that had to apply globally and in your store currency).
Auto-add gift pop-up for both multiple variants and multi-product gift options
We’ve also introduced new Shipping rewards - where shipping discounts are created directly in Unicorn - no need to change your shipping and delivery settings
This means you can also setup Free or Express shipping incentives
AND you can set free shipping for certain products or collections - without it needing to be a sitewide offer based on cart value.
You can now create more complex rules not possible with Shopify’s native shipping discounts
